KUMC Aortic Vessel Center aims to provide an effective surgical treatment for aortic diseases with optimal surgery and procedures.
The representative diseases that are rapidly increasing, along with the increasing age of patients and prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, and atherosclerosis in the contemporary society, are aortic diseases (e.g., aortic dissection, aortic aneurysms, and aortic root diseases) and vascular diseases (e.g., peripheral arteries, peripheral veins, and varicose veins).
In the past, aortic and vascular diseases could only be treated with surgery. Nowadays, the introduction of 3D CT and the development of hybrid operating rooms allow the frequency of treatment significantly using stent grafts via intervention techniques in radiology or internal medicine.
