The prevalence and mortality rate of cardiovascular diseases is steadily increasing, along with the Westernization of our society, as compared to the past. Cardiovascular diseases (e.g., hypertension, heart failure, ischemic heart disease, hyperlipidemia, valve disease, and aortic disease) are currently becoming major social issues. For this reason, KUMC Cardiovascular Center is equipped with the best medical staff comprised of experts in each field, the latest facilities, and a medical care system that can effectively treat these diseases. Cardiovascular Center seeks to safeguard the health of the patients and improve their quality of life, as well as provide the final medical care and emergency medical institutions that are needed by vascular disease patients.
The Cardiovascular Center medical staff members include specialists from the Department of Cardiovascular, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, and Department of Nuclear Medicine. They aim to provide diagnosis and treatment for patients. The Cardiovascular Center is mainly composed of an outpatient ward, cardiovascular ICU, general ward, and various laboratories. Meanwhile, the laboratory is comprised of a cardiovascular imaging unit, an electrocardiogram unit, an echocardiography unit, an exercise load testing unit, a 24-hour electrocardiogram unit, and an arteriosclerosis testing unit. The outpatient ward and various laboratories are conveniently located on the second floor.
