The Department of Dermatology specializes in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases (e.g., skin fungus, psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and allergic contact dermatitis), hair and scalp diseases (e.g., alopecia areata, masculine alopecia, and dandruff), and disorders of the skin appendages (e.g., nails and toenails).
The skin is the largest organ of the human body. It protects our body from the harsh environment and maintains its aesthetic appearance. Dermatology started out as a field of internal medicine, and it has recently undergone a remarkable improvement in the fields of surgery, biochemistry, and cosmetics. The Department of Dermatology at KUMC provides an accurate diagnosis and treatment of skin diseases (e.g., dermatosis, psoriasis, vitiligo, atopic dermatitis, and allergic contact dermatitis), hair and scalp diseases (e.g., alopecia areata, masculine alopecia, and dandruff), and disorders of the skin appendages (e.g., nails and toenails). We pursue the highest level of skin care treatment with the introduction of state-of-the-art facilities (e.g., pigment laser, vascular laser, and IPL treatment), and operate outpatient skin surgical procedures.
We are currently doing our best to determine the cause of fungal skin infections, and provide the necessary treatment for them, as well as focusing on photomedicine research on various skin diseases, including skin cancer caused by ultraviolet rays. The specialists in the Department of Dermatology are conducting research on the dermatological problems of the patients and developing advanced treatments in order to provide solutions through professional medical services, various efforts, and dermatology knowledge to the dermatological problems of the patients.
